In Facebook's email, users received emails, SMS and electronic messages from their friends on the social network. However, now they will receive their electronic mail at the emails they had registered when they registered.
A spokesperson for the social network announced that Facebook decided to stop the service as "the majority of users do not use it.".
Facebook's email service is expected to officially shut down in early March, but the project began in November 2010.
It is noted that a few days ago, Facebook announced the acquisition of the popular online messaging application WhatsApp for the astronomical sum of 16 billion euros.
