More than 430,000 electronic tablets (tablets) were sold in 2013 in the Greek market, according to market research company GfK Hellas, marking a significant increase compared to 2012 when 120,000 units were sold.

Electronic tablet sales in revenue in 2013 exceeded €93 million compared to €46 million in 2012, according to GFK Hellas.

In a period during which Greek consumers, due to the economic crisis, are trying to adapt to the new income data, according to GfK Hellas, this category was called upon to meet their needs for communication, entertainment and information.

The market trajectory of electronic tablets, according to GfK Hellas market research, is of great interest. In a relatively short period of time, the competitive structure, the average price of the category, and the trend of product characteristics have changed.

The oligopolistic character of the market last year gave way to a plethora of brands, with more than 10 of them holding a share above 3%. The primacy of the 10’’ was replaced by the 7’’, which now account for 2/3 of sales. At the same time, devices with integrated 3G/4G were limited to 20% of the market, losing ground to the more affordable Wi‑Fi devices.

According to GfK Hellas, in 2013 electronic tablets gave a very significant boost to the technology market. Capturing market shares, price evolution, distribution channels and product characteristics is extremely important for shaping companies' strategy.
