HAPPENING NOW: About the “virus” that has overwhelmed Facebook

The SecNews research team, in collaboration with our friends' website at  https://www.safer-internet.gr/, which first contacted us regarding the incident, already has the sample of the virus in question at its disposal.

Our volunteer team is currently analyzing the capabilities of this specific malware and will return soon with more details about the capabilities of the “virus” but also how exactly to recover in case you accidentally ran this software.

The initial findings of the analysis indicate that this is Java malware (Jar extension) which runs within the JVM (Java virtual machine) part of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment).
