An Indonesian hacker with the nickname Dbuzz managed to hack and deface the official blog of USEmbassy.gov – a portal for American embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions.
HackRead was the first to report the attack, which took place on Monday.
The hacker's defaced website at blogs.usembassy.gov/x.php has now been removed. However, a mirror of the attack is available on Dbuzz's account at zone-h.org.
USEmbassy.gov hosts the websites of American embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions around the world on its subdomains. For example, the website of the United States in Moscow is hosted at moscow.usembassy.gov.
USEmbassy.gov is managed by the US Department of State.
At this time it is still uncertain whether the hackers managed to gain access to all subdomains or if they only compromised blogs.usembassy.gov.
On Tuesday, the hacker also managed to deface several Indonesian government websites.
