Apple has launched a new round of significant discounts on iPhone 15 models in China, aiming to boost sales in its largest smartphone market and counter Huawei 's strong presence .
The sales will run from May 20 to 28, offering even deeper price cuts than those announced by Apple in February.

On its official store on Alibaba Group's Tmall website, Apple is offering discounts of up to 2,300 yuan ($318) on select models. For example, a top-of-the-line 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max can now be purchased for 7,949 yuan ($1,199), down from its original price of 9,999 yuan when it was launched in September.
Meanwhile, a base iPhone model with 128GB capacity is now available at a discounted price of 4,599 yuan ($636), down from its previous price of 5,999 yuan.
Apple is relying on discounts to boost iPhone 15 sales in the mid-cycle, with stiff competition from Huawei's latest high-end Pura 70 series of phones a factor in the recent sales slump. Apple's February discounts were seen as a response to growing interest in Mate 60 series, which was released last August.
Apple's sales in China fell 13% to $20.8 billion in the quarter ended December, missing analysts' estimates of $23.5 billion.

But despite the gloomy outlook for 2024, Apple's February offerings appear to have helped offset its slowing sales in China. According to Reuters, Apple's shipments in the country rose 12% in March, a significant improvement compared to the first two months of 2024, when the company saw a 37% drop in sales.
