Μια αναπάντεχη ανακοίνωση φέρνει νέα ζωή στο Sea of Stars, με τη συναρπαστική εισαγωγή της λειτουργίας co-op.

Last year's indie RPG Sea of Stars has reached an impressive milestone, and the team behind the game is celebrating in a rather retro way. Since its release last summer, Sea of Stars has been played by over five million players, and to mark the occasion, Sabotage Studio has announced that it will be getting... triple co-op in the kitchen?

Co-op features are pretty common in games, even if they've had a bit of a decline in recent generations, but games like It Takes Two have created a bit of a renaissance lately. However, there are genres of games that aren't naturally suited to co-op, and traditional single-player RPGs are among them. That doesn't rule out the possibility of it ever happening, and god knows Baldur's Gate 3 managed to pull it off quite effectively last year, but it's still a bit of a rarity. Add Sea of Stars to the list of titles trying to pull it off.
Dubbed “Single Player+,” the new mode isn’t too far removed from what Sea of Stars players are used to from the brief overview provided. Up to three players will be able to play simultaneously and engage in Sea of Stars’ movement and combat, which will have an added twist on co-op. Sea of Stars’ combat, which features timed keystrokes like Super Mario RPG, has several advanced techniques that combine character abilities or simply use more than one character at once. In Single Player+, there will now be “cooperative timer strikes” that give other party members an active role in the aforementioned moves.

The new feature is specifically referred to in Sabotage's press release as "couch co-op," meaning you'll have to invite some friends over to play it, rather than going online. Kotaku reached out to Sabotage to confirm that the feature will only support local play, and a spokesperson said, "That vision is indeed to keep it local co-op." That solves any concerns about having to sync inputs over anything but the most secure network!
Sabotage didn't have much else to share about the feature other than that it's in active development and we should expect more news soon. In addition to the surprise partnership announcement, Sabotage is also working on a DLC for Sea of Stars called Throes of the Watchmaker, which was a Kickstarter expansion goal that the game achieved during its initial campaign.
