Proton ,the Swiss company that provides various online services with a focus on privacy, is now bringing a change to the Android version of its cloud storage service, Proton Drive, that offers end-to-end encryption (E2EE). With the new change, Proton Drive now looks more like Google Drive. The Android version of Proton Drive now allows you to automatically back up and manage photos on your phone.

By adding a photo syncing and management feature, it becomes a more useful alternative to basic storage options like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. However, unlike those two services, files stored on Proton Drive are end-to-end encrypted, meaning no one can see the content you've uploaded.

Until now, Proton Drive allowed you to store photos and other files from your Android phone, but it didn’t automatically sync new photos. The update will make backing up photos to the service more convenient, as you’ll no longer have to manually upload all your recent photos. Additionally, Proton Drive is getting a new “Photos” tab so you can see all your photos organized by the month they were taken.
Photo backup on Proton Drive's Android app is available now, and will be coming to iOS at some point later.

Proton Drive is free to use for up to 1 GB. For of storage there is a $4.99 per month subscription, while for a 500 GB plan you are charged $12.99 per month.
