Apple's new iPhone 15 series is not in as much demand in China , according to new analyst research revealed via Bloomberg .

The report shows a decline in iPhone 15 sales in the first 17 days of availability, compared to the same period for the iPhone 14 last year . Analysts estimate a 4.5% drop, which means millions fewer devices .
The decline in sales is attributed to a decline in consumer demand and intense competition from domestic rivals such as Huawei. Analysts suggest that Huawei has overtaken Apple to become the top-selling smartphone in the region. In fact, they believe that this trend will continue until 2024.

In recent weeks, China has been touting the launch of Huawei's Mate 60 Pro phone . The country has also banned government officials from using iPhones in the workplace, citing security risks . And that move could be hurting iPhone sales.

It is worth noting that it is still early to judge the final impacts of this situation. Apple remains a strong brand with a powerful presence worldwide and it is assumed that it will seek further ways to improve its performance in China. However, time will be needed to reveal whether this strategy will deliver the expected results.
