Toyota: Presented the new GR Supra for the 45th anniversary

Toyota GR Supra

Toyota Gazoo Racing has unveiled the GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition to celebrate the name's, you guessed it, 45-year history, with special references inspired by the A80 generation of the 1990s, such as the Mikan Blast paint, which probably reminds us of something to do with the hero car of a certain film series.

For those who don't like the hot orange color, the GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition is also available in Absolute Zero (white), but only 900 units will be produced in total. All are based on the 3.0 Premium version and will likely have an increased price, but those details will only be available later, when the cars arrive at dealers this fall.

So what makes the 45th Anniversary Edition of the Supra so special? Well, in addition to paying homage to the heritage dating back to the time it was called the Celica Supra, it also features a prominent, manually adjustable fender as a key differentiator.

Finished in black, it matches the 19-inch alloy wheels in the same tone, behind which you will find black brake calipers with the GR badge. The black and orange theme continues with a graphic on the side of the sports car with Supra lettering, referencing the A70 generation, which became the first standalone Supra without the Celica prefix.

Regardless of the color you choose, the tower struts are finished in Mikan Blast – Mikan means orange in Japanese, in case you were wondering – and feature the Toyota Gazoo Racing logo. Each of the 900 units will also feature a plaque denoting its uniqueness as one of the 900 units, the 2024 model year designation, and its production in Austria by Magna Steyr.

Based on the 3.0 Premium Grade, the 45th Anniversary Edition is available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The BMW -sourced B58 engine produces 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, while the only drive wheels are at the rear of the car.

The 45th Anniversary Edition is the latest limited edition Supra, with a special edition arriving every year since the A90 generation hit the market. So far, we've seen the Launch Edition, the A91 Edition, the A91-CF Edition and the 2022 A91 MT, but the 45th Anniversary Edition is perhaps one of the most beautiful, as it shares a similar color to the Plasma Orange 100 Edition in Japan, which itself celebrates the milestone of selling 100 Supra GT4s to customer racing teams.

We expect more special editions to come, but the one we're expecting is a GRMN model with 500 horsepower from the BMW M3 – which may be closer to reality than we initially thought.
