Apple has filed a lawsuit against medical device company Masimo for copying the Apple Watch.
Apple has filed a lawsuit against Masimo, a company that develops, manufactures, and sells medical devices and technologies. The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Delaware and accuses the company of copying the Apple Watch.
Apple alleges in its lawsuit that Masimo copied many of its designs and patents, including its technology monitoring health, case design, and Apple Watch chargers.

Masimo sells devices to hospitals to manage patient care and earlier this year bought Sound United, a company whose brands include Denon and Polk Audio. In August of this year, Masimo also announced the release of a health watch, called the W1, which appears to include many health sensors similar to those found in the Apple Watch.

An Apple spokesperson said the company filed the lawsuit in the hope that it would be able to protect "the innovations it promotes on behalf of its customers."
Masimo reportedly told Reuters that with this lawsuit, Apple is responding to a previous lawsuit that Masimo had filed against the technology company. Masimo sued Apple in 2020, claiming that it had stolen its trade secrets and that it had infringed on its patents related to measuring heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Last year, it also asked the US to stop imports of Apple Watch that infringe on its patents.

This isn't the first time Apple has faced lawsuits over its technology. A few years ago, it fought a series of patent battles with rivals Samsung and Nokia.
