Everyone had given up everything when the game was released in July and it seems that this paid off – users have collectively walked 8.7 billion kilometers or 5.400 million miles, according to a blog post by Niantic Labs.
The gaming company has also created a video to show how far we have gone to catch these digital creatures. We have walked to the planet Uranus, to Neptune, and even to Pluto. This is more than 200,000 times the Earth's circumference.
Back in September, the company announced that trainers had traveled 4,600,000,000 kilometers (that's 2.9 billion miles), so over the past few months players have been pretty busy trying to catch them all! As of the first week of December, players caught over 88 billion Pokémon during all those miles, which breaks down to about 533 million per day!
At the peak of Pokémon Go, 25 million players were using the app daily and were everywhere. People walked miles to find digital gyms and exotic creatures.
A company spokesperson said the game has been downloaded over 600 million times since November. They do not provide daily user numbers, although since the game's launch in early July it has shown a steady decline from its initial hype.
