There is good and bad news. The good news is that jailbreak hackers have retained exploits that will help with a future jailbreak. The bad news is that we are not going to see another jailbreak tool soon, not until iOS 7 is released.
pod2g, a member of the Evad3r hacker group, confirmed today that we won’t see a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3. “It would be stupid to burn exploits for 6.1.3, because it’s a minor update,” pod2g said. “We’re waiting for a major release.”
“The harder it gets to jailbreak, the fewer tools will be released,” said Joshua Hill, a hacker who has previously worked on jailbreak tools for iOS. Furthermore, Hill believes that there won’t be another jailbreak until iOS 7 is released. Apple typically announces new major versions of iOS at WWDC in the summer.
At the moment the Evasi0n tool supports versions from 6.0 up to 6.1.2, so those who upgrade to 6.1.3 should know that you will probably be delayed in seeing a jailbreak.
