A revolutionary new tablet as thick as a sheet of paper is ready to knock on our door! The tablet can be folded, or even dropped without any damage.
Developed by Queens University in Canada in collaboration with Plastic Logic and Intel Labs, it could lead to a revolutionary new gadget that is virtually unbreakable – and as thin as a piece of paper.
The new 10.7-inch display will be unveiled later this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The new tablet-like display could be used on its own or as a set of multiple web pages that would each host a different application. Instead of using multiple applications or windows on a single screen, users have ten or more interactive screens or “PaperTabs,” each running a different application.

They will also be able to be used as e-books, with users simply tilting the screen slightly to turn pages.
“Using multiple PaperTabs makes it much easier to work with multiple documents,” says Roel Vertegaal, director of the Human Media Lab at Queen’s University.
For example, PaperTab will allow a user to send a photo simply by placing the PaperTab that has an email page open on top of another PaperTab that is showing the photo!
The photo is automatically attached to the smart tablet email.
