Pod2g, the hacker behind the latest untethered jailbreaks, says that work on an iOS 6 jailbreak is ongoing. He recently encouraged Twitter users to demand an open iOS from Apple, leading to speculation that the Dev Team had given up.

This is wrong on many counts. First of all, the jailbreak is still under development, but it is not yet ready for public release.
Second, the message was not written by a "jailbreaker", I have not been involved in security research for several months now. I work on my own applications and projects. Rest assured that if the only way to have #weWantAnOpenIOS is to jailbreak, then it will happen eventually.
The path, for the jailbreak that is not yet ready for release, has been presented by chpwn with the cydia photoshop running on an iPhone 5, in addition, Pod2g had indeed said a long time ago that he himself is not working on the iOS 6 jailbreak.
