Microsoft appears to be working on a new feature for Windows 10 that will bring an iPhone-like feature (Night Shift) to the operating system.
It seems that Windows 10 build 14915 already includes hints of work on a new feature called Blue Light Reduction that could debut with the final release of Redstone 2 expected in spring 2017. Blue Light Reduction will come with controls placed in the Action Center. Additionally, Microsoft is offering an automatic mode for Blue Light Reduction that will allow this feature to take effect at pre-set times. The Windows 10 feature will also come with location-based settings, meaning it will automatically adjust the screen temperature based on your region. It is very likely based on f.lux, which uses blue filters to control the screen temperature, which could contribute to significantly improving sleep and mental activity.
The developer of the application stated (we quote the statement independently): "f.lux changes the color temperature of your display. Natural light is more blue, while most artificial light (including candlelight) is warmer. Incandescent bulbs, which we're all used to, become more red in tone when you dim them. But newer LEDs and CFLs don't this includes the backlight on your monitor. If you're a photographer, you've probably dealt with this, since taken pictures inside at night are always much more brown than photos outside.”
