Being one of the most famous entertainers on the planet comes with a lot of perks from Apple, especially if your name is Barbara Streisand.
In a recent interview with NPR, the famous singer revealed that she personally contacted Apple CEO Tim Cook to correct Siri's pronunciation of her name – and he agreed to do so.
When Scott Simon decided to test Siri on air with a question that would mention Streisand's name, Siri did indeed answer, but according to Streisand, she didn't say it exactly right.
“Siri pronounces my name wrong,” Streisand said. “Streisand is pronounced with a soft S, like the sand on the beach. I’ve been saying that my whole career.”
Apparently, the mistake was important enough to Streisand that she decided to use her celebrity to get in touch with the only person who could guarantee a correction: Cook.
“I called the head of Apple, Mr. Tim Cook, and we finally agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name,” Ms. Streisand said.
According to the singer, the correct pronunciation should be included “with the next voice assistant on September 30th.”
So while most of us don't have that kind of access, this fact suggests that if you find a bug involving someone well-known, Apple could listen a little more carefully. But don't count on a personal call with Cook.
