Windows 10 – a failure according to Microsoft itself – has been pushed by the company in every possible way. It even paid $10,000 to a woman who was frustrated by the automatic upgrade to Windows 10.
But Redmond didn't realize how far she had gone until recently.
Two lawsuits have been filed against Microsoft over questionable upgrade tactics such as forcing users to install Windows 10 or doing the installation without users' consent in some cases.
One of the two lawsuits filed in Florida District Court claims that upgrading to Windows 10 “violates laws governing unsolicited electronic advertising, as well as the Federal Trade Commission’s prohibitions on deceptive and unfair practices.”
“Microsoft’s marketing plan falls short of some of the protections it should provide,” the plaintiff said. The case was filed by Ahmad Abdulreda, Al Khafaji and Robert Stahl.
The other lawsuit was filed in Haifa, Israel, last month, for installing Windows 10 without users' consent, violating Israeli computer law.
The company still feels confident on its part that it will be able to defend its work before the law.
Windows 10 automatic upgrade incidents are nothing new. We heard that Microsoft has configured the “cross” button that prompts Windows 10 upgrade to act as a shaker with the upgrade process. As reported, the button has been restored to its original functionality.
However, they don't just sue Microsoft all the time. They also work hard to catch people who make pirated copies of Microsoft products.
The Windows 10 free upgrade campaign has ended since July 29th, and now users have to pay if they wish to upgrade.
