A large crowd gathered yesterday for the presentation of the books of Major General Manolis Sfakianakis, director of the prosecution of electronic crime, which took place in the packed "Theatron" of the "Hellenic World" cultural center in Tavros.

This slogan contains in two words the meaning of two books about the dark world of the internet, one of which was written by Major General Manolis Sfakianakis, director of the electronic crime prosecution, and one that he wrote himself, together with his close associate Yiannis Makrypoulias, a computer and IT engineer, former special police officer in the prosecution, who is currently employed in the private sector.
These are the books "The Code of the Internet" and "The Keys of the Internet", the presentation of which took place yesterday, Tuesday 16/2, at the "Theatron" of the "Hellenic World" cultural center, at 254 Pireos Street in Tavros, attracting the great interest of all those present, who almost filled the room.
The books were presented by journalist and presenter of the ERT central news bulletin, Panos Charitos, who described them as invaluable tools and aids for lawyers, legislators, parents and anyone who wants to know how to handle the internet, as well as the dangers it hides, as well as the legal status surrounding it.
Greetings were delivered by the Minister of Interior Panagiotis Kouroumplis, who praised the work of Mr. Sfakianakis, speaking of the amazing work of himself and Yiannis Makrypoulias, whom he congratulated and thanked for this offer.
Mr. Manolis Sfakianakis, speaking with his well-known passion, said that "the internet is light" and all parents should let their children learn about it, but at the same time it is everyone's duty to learn the rules and dangers.
The general emphasized that the internet has penetrated 75% of Greek homes, which is progress.
"Many say that 2% of the negatives of the internet and 98% of the positives," said Mr. Sfakianakis and continued: "However, this small percentage is enough to cause damage. Terrorism passes through the internet. Even executions are carried out via the internet, such as deaths-"contracts" caused by changes in drug prescriptions.".
He also spoke about the major problem of child pornography, the mutation of crime through the internet and emphasized: "The internet leaves nothing hidden, if you're not careful. There are people who have changed their names, or are desperately asking us to change their names, in order to escape the consequences caused by strictly personal information that was released in cyberspace.
"I have dedicated my life to this job for 20 years, until we reached the level of having an excellent service, such as the prosecution of cybercrime. We brought the children to us and that is our great success.".
