Meet Ocean: The fully-fledged wireless server, based on Linux, that fits in your pocket.
Ocean, a mobile server launched by iCracked, can run all Linux operating systems. It can easily fit in your pocket, but it is a fully-fledged wireless web server. The tiny computer that is powerful to run a server has obvious similarities to the Raspberry Pi, is low-cost and about the size of a credit card, and can be connected to a computer monitor or TV.
The Ocean is a pocket-sized server with a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A7 dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It comes with a 4,200 mAh battery, which allows you to use it for up to two days without charging. Its creators say it is “powerful enough to run a Node.js web server” and also supports Ubuntu, Raspbian, Android, and other operating systems.
The server measures 5.7” x 3” x 0.5” and weighs approximately 6 ounces.
It supports 802.11b/g/n, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LTE, and has a full-size USB port as well as a micro USB port for charging. You can also use a Qi wireless charging pad. You can even use it as a charging for your other devices.
There is no display and no video output port. It is not considered a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop computer. Instead, it is designed to be used as a headless server. You can connect to it over the internet or a local network connection using a web dashboard, SSH, or other methods. Ocean gives you the flexibility to control it remotely, and you can collect data about your environment via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. In addition to that, it can be used to read information about the devices connected to it.
Although the Ocean is much more expensive than the Raspberry Pi, which was originally created for educational purposes, it comes with more premium and useful features that developers can and are willing to pay more for. The company has put a limited number of devices on sale, with a starting price of $149 for the 16GB version and $199 (£139) for the 64GB version.
