Newsweek 's Twitter account was hacked after an attack by the Cyber Caliphate group , which is made up of hackers affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS).
The hackers managed to post threatening tweets against Obama and his family, and change the background image to show an ISIS fighter.
During the 14-minute breach, the Cyber Caliphate group praised “cyber jihad” and posted images of documents allegedly stolen from the Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy (DICTA) and the US Pentagon.
"We know everything about you and your relatives and we are much closer than you can imagine," they posted in a message.
Newsweek confirmed the incident and editor-in-chief Kira Bindrim apologized to their readers.
