Google has released the Video Quality Report, a way to understand whether YouTube is to blame for the video playback delay, or if it's your internet service provider that's at fault .
The service essentially checks the quality and speed of your internet service providers' connections. Google uses data related to your ISP to figure out whether it can play an HD video from YouTube.
Based on their performance, service providers will receive a “YouTube HD Verified” stamp if they can load 90% of 720p videos.
The system is supposed to help users understand whether they are working with the right provider or should consider switching. As for service providers, they will also have something to brag about if they pass the test.
The Google Video Quality Report will be available in Canada initially, although it will soon expand to more countries.
