But all of that is a thing of the past thanks to a new gadget, designed by Frederic Petrignani from Amsterdam.
The "brainchild" of the Dutch entrepreneur is called Frebble.
It is a wireless device that allows its users to... exchange an online, remote handshake wherever they are in the world!
Thanks to haptic technology, the device mimics the sensation one experiences when someone holds one's hand tightly and tenderly, according to a Daily Mail report.
