If you didn't know, it's time to learn that your optical mouse , under certain conditions, "hides" a... tiny web camera inside it
With this in mind, Franci Kapel, a web developer and… gadget hacker, decided to utilize the optical sensor contained in his old mouse, a Logitech RX 250, turning it into a simple but… functional camera.
How did he do this? With a homemade build, using a soldering iron, a resistor, an Arduino board, and the necessary Ethernet shield, as well as a little bit of code. (Detailed information can be found on his site here)
The result could be considered successful, we cannot help but comment, however, that this is a web cam of tragic resolution ("captures" grayscale light with a resolution of 15×15 pixels), as you will see in the video below.
