If we compared the Internet to an ocean of information, then the typical daily browsing we do, is nothing more than a walk on the surface of the water. Of course, there are many pieces of information we can gather with a stroll through «friendly» towards the well-known search engines. However, what «lies» in the… depth of this ocean, known as the Deep Web, is far more and much more mysterious than what we usually see.

Just as in the sea, so on the Internet, there are things we cannot easily discover. So, when an aspiring fisherman catches a creature he has never seen before and in a short time the news of his discovery spreads around the world, likewise when someone manages to extract information from the Deep Web onto the… surface, a scandal ensues.

It is logical that the size of the surface Internet cannot be compared even in imagination with that of the Deep Web. To be precise, if we divided it into two parts, the known and the unknown, then the two pieces would be very unequal. The surface Internet contains only the small 4% of information, while the remaining 96% belongs to the deep web.

The enormous size of this information is found in more than 300.000 «hidden» websites. Each one of them has its own… mysterious reason for existence. Obviously the existence of the Deep Web is not very innocent, as programmers do not randomly hide the information of their pages from the general public. Classic examples of misuse of the «depth» of the internet are the search for child pornography as well as the purchase of drugs and weapons.

Deep Web sites, beyond the fact that they are not indexed by classic search engines such as Google, present their content in a format that is not easily recognizable. In other words, the images and even the text that someone would find on such a page cannot be «read» without using a special program.

All this hidden part of the internet certainly makes an impression on most of us who can only know it… theoretically. However, this space, because it is precisely very difficult to access, is correspondingly very dangerous. Of course, there will always be some who are ahead in expertise compared to most and will have the precarious privilege to move into the… deep waters of the internet.
