According to new data from a Chinese research firm, sales of non-domestic smartphones in China fell by 44.25% year-on-year.
The calculations, based on data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), showed that in October 2024, 6.22 million non-domestic smartphone sales were recorded in China, while in October 2024, 11.149 million mobile device.
Apple , as the largest foreign phone maker in China's smartphone market, played a significant role in the country 's overall sales figures.

Apple released the iPhone 16 models in September, but the much-touted AI won't be available in Chinese until next year, so the model isn't very popular in the country yet.
Overall, 2024 wasn't Apple's best year in China. Sales were down. In July, a survey showed that Apple was no longer in the top five smartphone vendors in China (it dropped to sixth place).

The decline in sales of iPhones and other non-domestic smartphones is largely due to fierce competition from China-based brands such as Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Honor and Xiaomi. Huawei has begun to re-emerge as a major player in the high-end smartphone, thanks to its advanced chips produced entirely in China.

China is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world, so any decline in sales of foreign phones could have a direct impact on the global sales of these companies.
