Huawei: Mate 70 smartphone launches as new chips approach the United States

Huawei has unveiled the Mate 70 series , bolstering its re-entry into the premium smartphone market and promoting HarmonyOS NEXT, its own independent operating system that reduces dependence on American technology.

As the successor to the Mate 60 series, the Mate 70 is released at a time when the US is preparing to impose new export restrictions, affecting Chinese semiconductor companies.

The new model features a satellite system, an improved processor and runs on HarmonyOS NEXT, offering a 40% increase in performance.

HarmonyOS NEXT showcases Huawei's independence from Androidwhile maintaining compatibility with it. Teardown analyses indicate the presence of advanced chips from SMIC, although Huawei has not officially confirmed this.

Increased patriotic support for the Huawei Mate 70's technological advancements is fueling its market recovery, ranking it second in sales in China in the third quarter of 2024, with shipments exceeding 10 million units.
