The Department of Justice announced that it has seized several ransomware websites used by the Blackcat.
This ransomware gang, also known as ALPHV or Noberus, has attacked networks across cyberspace worldwide. The group's victims include some critical infrastructure networks for the United States, with approximately 1,000 victims. Several foreign law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the matter.

The Blackcat ransomware gang primarily uses ransomware to infiltrate computers, lock files, and demand money to decrypt them. The Department of Justice spent 18 months developing a decryptionthat allowed over 500 Blackcat victims to restore their computer systems.
With the help of a decryption tool provided by the FBI to hundreds of ransomware victims around the world, businesses and schools were allowed to reopen, while health and emergency services were restored in cyberspace
