Netflix provides viewers with the ability to adjust both the size and appearance of subtitles and closed captions, allowing for greater personalization of the viewing experience.
Want to change the style of your subtitles or closed captions on Netflix? You can do so easily by logging into your account via a web browser and making changes, such as changing the font size or adding a bold shadow for better readability. Until now, customizing closed captions and subtitles for streaming content on TV has been anything but straightforward. Luckily, TechCrunch reports that the streaming service is now allowing users to customize their text within the app itself — making the process much more efficient!

According to the report, this feature is quite similar to the subtitle customization feature in the Amazon Prime Video TV, which offers a variety of options. You can choose from four different font styles – small, medium, and large with or without shadows – to get the best viewing. If you need more contrast, one option is yellow text on a black background. To access these controls while watching a series, simply go to Settings at the bottom of the screen and select Subtitle size and style from there. It’s important to note that it’s currently not possible to customize the appearance of the text for Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Chinese.

More and more people have been using subtitles in recent years when sounds aren't balanced and voices seem lower in volume than the background, or to watch shows in a foreign language. And while the controls for the TV app offer fewer customization options than the Netflix website, they make changing the appearance of subtitles much more accessible.
