According to recent reports, Elon Musk told his employees that if they didn't commit to a new and 'hardcore Twitter', he would fire them.

Yesterday at midnight, all Twitter employees received an email informing them that the company would be going hardcore in the future.
"This means you will be working long hours at high intensity," he said, according to a number of reports. "Only excellent performance will be satisfactory.".

The email came just a week after Musk first met with Twitter employees and two weeks after he ordered mass layoffs. “What works at SpaceX and Tesla is people being in the office and being hardcore,” Musk said during his first meeting with Twitter employees.
If employees refuse to sign a pledge committing themselves to the "new hardcore Twitter" by Thursday, they will be given three months' salary before being laid off, according to the email.
Mr. Musk’s tenure at Twitter has already begun with growing hostility toward existing staff. Shortly after he bought the company, he laid off half its employees—though some were asked to return—and has since fired those who questioned his methods. One such firing was even announced on Twitter.

It seems Twitter's new boss is poking fun at those who were laid off. In one tweet, he wrote that " Starlink is rebuilding the internet in space, so maybe I know a little more than someone who wrote code for a website," and in another seemingly sarcastic tweet, he referred to them as "geniuses."
