Unimaginable 1Gbps speeds are coming for the first time to COSMOTE Fiber, the country's largest fiber optic network. COSMOTE is revolutionizing fixed Internet, as it intends to commercially make available, from mid-September, following the relevant approval from EETT, speeds of 300Mbps, 500Mbps and 1Gbps, to residential and corporate customers, via Fiber to the Home infrastructure.

OTE Group Chief Technology & Operations Officer, Mr. Stefanos Theocharopoulos, stated in this regard: “A few months ago, we announced the increase in our investments to over 3 billion euros by 2027, with the aim of upgrading the country by installing optical fiber on 2/3 of the territory’s lines. We are taking the next big step, and we will commercially make 1Gbps speeds available, i.e. up to 5 times higher than those we have today, through our FTTH infrastructure. This decision is expected to contribute decisively to improving the country’s position in European and international indicators, to strengthening competitiveness, and to improving the everyday life of homes and businesses. It is another decisive step to bring Greece closer to the Gigabit Society.”
The new COSMOTE Fiber speeds of 300Mbps, 500Mbps and 1Gbps via optical fiber to the home, which will enrich the existing portfolio of 100 and 200Mbps, will be commercially available after their approval by EETT. The target is commercial availability on September 15. By the end of the year, almost 1 million homes and businesses will have access to 1Gbps, while by 2027 this will reach 3 million.
