The 5G Stand Alone (SA) will be an autonomous network with a new architecture, while the core network will be entirely cloud‑based. Thanks to these characteristics, 5G SA will offer even more capabilities, such as the ability «slicing» of the network resources of the 5G infrastructure (dynamic network slicing). Specifically, a network slice is a virtual network with guaranteed provision of specialized characteristics (bandwidth, latency, security, etc.). Each network slice is fully tailored to the needs and requirements of the various applications used by the user at different times. This is very important for vertical markets, as it allows the creation of many, customized and independent networks that share a common infrastructure.

New areas with 5G
New areas enjoying COSMOTE 5G speeds are in the Dodecanese: Rhodes, Karpathos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Kos and Leros. In Crete: Agios Nikolaos Lasithi, Rethymno and Chania. In the mainland: Halkidiki, Lamia and Kamena Vourla, as well as on the islands: Lemnos and Paxos. By the end of the year, the network will be further expanded to various areas of the Peloponnese, as well as to Samos and Ikaria.
5G speeds for foreign visitors too
