Samsung tops the global smartphone market

Samsung has achieved its highest global smartphone market share in five years. In April 2022, Samsung was the top-selling smartphone brand with a 24% market share — its highest since June 2017.

Once again, the Galaxy S22 series and lower-cost Galaxy A phones were the source behind this success. Samsung hasn't reached this level of global dominance since April 2017, when it had a 25% market share.

Just 1% came to help Samsung top the global market in April 2022. And while Samsung's market share skyrocketed to 24% in terms of phone sales, Apple's fell sharply to 15%. Apple was followed by Xiaomi , which held 12% of global smartphone sales in April.

How was Samsung so successful?

In addition to the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy A smartphones being excellent products, Samsung's positive result is due to many other factors , such as strong supply chain management and a healthy supply-demand balance .

Samsung has had a huge impact in India , and attractive offers in key markets, including Latin America, have helped the company expand its presence.

"Samsung is likely to maintain its leadership position in the global smartphone market – in the second quarter," analysts at Counterpoint Research predict, adding that the foldable segment holds a lot of potential for the Korean tech giant.

Samsung is preparing to release the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 in August-September.
