OnlyFans said Wednesday it had “suspended” its plans to ban pornography on the platform after a backlash from its users . A few days ago, OnlyFans said it would ban sexual content on the site from October due to growing pressure from banking partners and payment providers.
However, a spokesperson for the online platform told CNBC that the proposed changes are no longer necessary “due to assurances from banking partners that OnlyFans can support all types of creators.”

“We have secured the necessary assurances to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1st policy change“.
"We will continue to provide a home for all creators," added , while emphasizing that it will officially inform all creators of its new decision by email.
OnlyFans' decision to block posts with sexual content provoked strong reactions from the so-called "sex workers", who helped greatly increase the platform's success, while the platform was also important to them since for many it was the main source of income.
OnlyFans was founded in 2016 and has since gone from strength to strength thanks to its more relaxed approach to sexually explicit content. With over 130 million users and 2 million content creators, it is a new force among social media.

OnlyFans has said its platform can be used by everyone from chefs to musicians. Celebrities like Cardi B and Bella Thorne have also joined the platform as creators. However, porn is by far the most popular category on the site.
OnlyFans founder and CEO Tim Stokelytold the Financial Times a few days ago that the company was forced to ban sexual content after “unfair” treatment by banks. Specifically, he mentioned JPMorgan, BNY Mellon and Britain’s Metro Bank.

Also, a report last week said the company was having difficulty finding outside investors due to concerns about hosting adult content.
Stokely denied that this was happening, saying that OnlyFans “did not make this policy change to make it easier to find investors.”
Either way, OnlyFans will not ultimately have to remove sexual content from its platform.
