OTE's management has announced for two years that OTE's development plan includes entering the sector of electronic payments, as well as online betting
The Bank of Greece granted an operating license for an electronic money institution to OTE's subsidiary, "Cosmote Payments-Electronic Money Services S.A.".

The official publication of the decision in the Government Gazette is expected within the next few days, most likely even by the end of the week. OTE's management has announced for two years that OTE's development plan includes entering the sector of electronic payments, as well as online betting (in collaboration with Intralot).

Cosmote Payments, which was founded in 2018, is the third licensed electronic money institution after Viva Payment Services SA and “Tora Wallet” controlled by OPAP.
Just a few weeks ago, and more specifically during the general meeting, Chairman and CEO OTE Tsamaz had argued that the group's management, although expecting delays due to the pandemic, maintains unchanged its investment plans "for fifth-generation networks (5G) and the development of fiber-to-the-home networks , as well as for the group's new ventures, such as online gaming and electronic payments."
