Cellebrite is preparing to crack an iPhone 6

The FBI recently managed to break into an iPhone 5C used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists. Apple is currently waiting for the hack to be leaked so it can patch the security flaw. iphone

Rumors have suggested that the company that helped the FBI crack the device is Israeli-based Cellebrite, which is apparently preparing to crack a future iPhone.

This time, the iPhone is an iPhone 6 belonging to the deceased adopted son of Leonardo Fabbretti from Italy, who wants to access the photos and messages on the locked phone. After personally reaching out to Tim Cook to help him recover the photos from the device, Fabbretti contacted Apple engineers, who attempted to extract the backups from iCloud.

But iCloud backups were never created, so the father cannot obtain his son's photos.

This is where the Israeli company decided to intervene and decided to call the person concerned to the company's headquarters to see if they could crack this phone as well. So the company copied the contents of the device to its computers and is now trying to break the encryption.

Fabbretti told CNN that the iPhone is protected with a password he doesn't know, and all he wants is to "see his son's photos, watch his videos and hear his voice."

He claims that parents should not buy their children iPhones because they cannot be sure that they will have access to stored data if they ever need it.

Cellebrite has reportedly said it will crack the device for free (the company has already been paid since the story went public). It remains to be seen whether they will be able to crack the device.
