According to the interview, Samsung has been working on a smartwatch for a long time, and according to Lee, the company's goal is to create products for the future, so a smartwatch is definitely in their plans. Lee, although asked by the journalist, did not provide any other information about the features, price, or availability dates of the product in question.
"We've been preparing the watch product for so long," Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile business, said during an interview in Seoul. "We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them." Lee wouldn't say what features that watch would have or how much it would cost.
What is certain is that once again Samsung wants to catch up with Apple at the turn and perhaps be the first to present a smartwatch. Now we don't know whether this will be another plastic device from Samsung and whether it will be able to compete with Apple's expected iWatch.
