Although the iPhone 5S will look like the iPhone 5, that doesn't mean it won't have new features.
A new rumor claims that the iPhone 5S will have an NFC chip as well as fingerprint recognition, which will work in tandem to allow for easy transactions.
According to the China Times, Apple is working with Chipbond Science and Technology in Taiwan to bring fingerprint recognition to the iPhone.
This isn't the first rumor we've heard about fingerprint recognition, as KGI Securities reported on a similar idea earlier this year. The idea may sound far-fetched, but Apple last year acquired AuthenTec, which makes fingerprint sensors, and for NFC, they've struck a deal with Microlatch, which makes biometric security via NFC.
The fingerprint sensor will be located under the home button and instead of users using codes to unlock the device or make a purchase, they will simply place their thumb on the button and the sensor will perform the appropriate actions.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 5S at the end of the summer, which in addition to the two above, will also have an updated camera, a faster processor and will be available in a variety of colors.
