A driver playing 'Pokemon GO' crashed his car into a tree!
The new popular mobile game "Pokemon Go" is back in the news. This time for playing a role in a car accident that injured the driver. This was finally certain to happen!
A 28-year-old driver in Auburn, New York, was involved in an accident when he crashed into a tree Tuesday night while playing Pokemon Go. In this game, players track and catch Pokemon in the real world using their smartphone camera.
The Auburn Police Department issued a statement saying that "the driver admitted to playing the game while driving, which caused him to become distracted and hit the tree. Fortunately, the driver was not seriously injured, but this is an example of how easily an accident can occur when someone is engaged in the game and not paying attention to the road."
The Auburn Police Department has issued advice to drivers following the incident, asking them to use "common sense" when catching Pokemon and to keep their eyes on the road at all times.
The points mentioned in the advice are:
• Do not use the application while driving a motor vehicle or bicycle.
• Do not trespass on private property when trying to “catch” a Pokemon.
• Be aware of your surroundings when walking and don't look at your phone without being aware of the dangers around you, such as roads, puddles, rivers, etc.
• Be careful when sharing your location with strangers who can see information about where you are.
• Walk in groups in public/well-lit areas.
Since its release on July 6, Pokemon Go has been in the news all the time. The game has been responsible for a number of incidents, from a teenager accidentally finding a dead body to a series of robberies.
