Google Executive Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt , who recently visited Athens, seems to be none too pleased about the rumors about the NSA 's surveillance methods .
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Schmidt said it was outrageous that the US National Security Agency was monitoring and extracting data from Google 's data centers , if that is indeed true.
Schmidt made this comment following recent reports that a tool created by the NSA and the UK's equivalent agency accessed Google and Yahoo without permission.
Schmidt specifically stated that violating citizens' privacy " is not OK ," while regarding the allegations that the NSA collected phone call data from 320 million people to investigate around 300, he commented that this is bad public policy and perhaps illegal.
