With so many music videos stored on YouTube's servers, a subscription music service doesn't seem like an unlikely scenario. The Top 10 most viewed videos confirm this. Rumors that Google has been preparing something for a while now seem to be right.
According to an exclusive report from Android Police , Google's new music subscription service is called YouTube Music Key . The service will offer users features like offline music playback , ad-free music streaming on mobile and desktop, and background music for mobile devices. All of the above for $10 per month , with a 30-day trial of the service.
With over 20 million songs and exclusive content such as concerts, covers and remixes, it seems that YouTube's music service will be able to compete with services like Spotify or Beats.
Finally, Google already has a subscription service called Google Play All Access, which looks like it will be renamed Google Play Music Key and may merge with the YouTube Music Key service, or the two services may even collaborate.
