Hanx Writer, as it was named in honor of Tom Hanks, gives the user the feeling of writing on a typewriter, and was loved by so many that it reached number 1 on the Apple Store, a few days after it was launched, and even at a special event where Tom Hanks participated from his home in Antiparos.
The actor loves typewriters and new technology and decided to combine his two great loves in one iPad application.
Hanks has stated that he was inspired by the enchanting experience of typing on a typewriter, the clicks and the characteristic "ding" that the typewriter makes when it reaches the end of the line.
The app became a hit, and Tom Hanks himself admitted in a message on Twitter that the sound the typewriter makes, "bang-bang, clack clack clack, pukapookapookapooka" - as he put it - is like music to some people's ears.
