Google is ready for yet another "revolution", this time in our living rooms, through Android TV, the new service specially designed for the big screen, with the main goal of home entertainment.
Android TV will offer movies, music, TV shows and games, and can be controlled with voice commands, a remote control, or any Android device with the corresponding free app installed. This includes the much-promising Android Wear watches.
So far it is known that Android TV will offer full access to the Google Play online store, while users will be able to purchase or rent digital content from both Google and other popular services.
At the same time, it will also offer access to Google Play Games, giving users the ability to continue their games on the big screen, from where they left off on their smartphone or tablet.
Even more tempting will be the use of cross-device multiplayer, which will allow one user to play on the TV and another on the smartphone or tablet.
Users will also be able to view their smartphone/tablet/laptop screen directly on the TV and without delay, via Chromecast.
They will also be able to send content from a device to the TV, without the first device necessarily being connected to the home WiFi network, again via Chromecast.
Android TV will be available in various formats, such as televisions, set-top boxes, streaming boxes.
It is noted that major manufacturers, such as Sony, Sharp, etc., are already planning to incorporate the new version from 2015 into all new TV series.
