The SIA (Security Industries Association) is comprised of a group of cybersecurity experts appointed by the SIA Board of Directors.

The committee's mission is to provide guidance to SIA members on cybersecurity issues, thereby enabling SIA to prepare its members for the challenges that arise with the wider adoption of the Internet of Things and the use of secure devices for greater protection.
“I am honored to take on the role of Chair of the Cybersecurity Advisory Board (CAB),” said Wayne Dorris. “Cybersecurity is a complex and evolving field that affects us all. I look forward to working with CAB members to create valuable content and provide insights on important cross-cutting topics, such as the convergence of cyber and physical worlds, zero trust and compliance, and legislation and regulation.”
Wayne Dorris serves as the Cybersecurity Program Manager at Axis Communications, primarily in the Americas. He drives awareness and supports Axis’ strategy and demand for products in the cyber space. He also promotes IP solutions across the company through relationships and networking with standards organizations, associations, partners and customers.
Wayne Dorris has 32 years of experience in the security industry, with 12 of those in regional and senior management positions focused on the direct implementation of architectural and engineering programs. Prior to joining Axis, he worked as a security application sales engineer for other companies and served as a technical security manager for eight years at a large company . Dorris is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and in addition to serving on the Cybersecurity Advisory Board, he is actively involved in other committees, such as the SIA Privacy Committee, and in industry organizations and volunteer groups.

Wayne’s cybersecurity expertise will bring significant value to CAB’s efforts to support SIA in improving its physical security resilience. Issues such as the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark, security risks in AI applications, and supporting the K-12 school sector with ransomware guidance are just a few of the many issues that SIA members are working on, along with our close collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. “SIA will benefit from working with CAB,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “We thank Wayne and Axis for their significant contributions as SIA members and commend Wayne for his effective leadership in this critical area.”

The main efforts and achievements of the SIA Cybersecurity Advisory Committee include publishing useful guides on system hardening, employee cybersecurity integration, security , challenges and recommendations for connected physical security products and more, as well as organizing exciting and informative cybersecurity. In addition, it offers forward-looking blogs and cybersecurity advice for the benefit of SIA members and the wider industry.
