21 new malware families detected attacking Mac users
The rise of Apple products has made Mac users prime targets for hackers who use malware to compromise them.
In the past, Macs were always considered more secure. Therefore, this makes their users less stressed about ensuring that they are safe.
Hackers, of course, take advantage of these weaknesses and find a way to steal sensitive data stored on Apple computers.
Cybersecurity researchers at Jamf recently identified 21 new malware families that have been found to be attacking Mac users.

21 new malware families targeting Macs identified
More than 15 million devices were analyzed globally in Q4 2023 by Security 360 in 90 countries (macOS, iOS/iPad, Android, Windows) to measure the true impact of security trends in the real world.
Jamf's 2024 malware report reveals that 9% of mobile users fell victim to phishing and 20% of companies were at risk due to faulty smartphone settings.
Jamf is a device management service that reports annually on smartphone security. It recently claimed that 40% of users use devices with vulnerabilities and 39% of organizations have at least one such device.
This data highlights the growing concerns about iPhones alongside Android. It also notes a growing trend of hackers targeting the Apple ecosystem with sophisticated attacks, highlighting the focus on developing hard-to-detect exploits for iOS/iPadOS.
Despite Apple's focus on security, the Jamf report reveals a neglect of its platforms. For example, FileVault, a critical data protection feature, was disabled on 36% of devices surveyed.
In 2023, 3% of iPhones had disabled lock screens and 25% of organizations had at least one user with this problem.
