Will Smith uploaded a video to his Instagram, where he parodies the viral video created by AI, which shows the actor eating spaghetti.

With the recent announcement of the Sora video synthesis model by OpenAI, many have noticed a significant improvement in the quality of videos created by artificial intelligence (AI) compared to the famous spaghetti video. In the new video, Will Smith is humorously shown enjoying spaghetti and stating that this is a reaction of the AI.

Captioned “This is getting out of control!”, the Instagram video uses a split-screen layout to showcase the original AI-generated spaghetti video, created by Reddit user “chaindrop” in March 2023. Topping the list labeled “AI Videos 1 Year Ago” is a box titled “AI Video Now,” where the real Will Smith plays 11 clips of himself eating spaghetti. He stirs it, nods his head, eats with his fingers, and even touches a friend’s hair. The 2006 song “Snap Yo Fingers” by Lil Jon plays in the background.
In the comments on Instagram, some users expressed their curiosity about the new video (without AI), wondering if the second video was also an AI creation. Another user commented that Boomers don't get it, that the second video is obviously a joke.
We haven't yet seen a model with Sora's ability attempt to create a new Will-Smith-eating-spaghetti AI video, but the result would likely be a lot better than last year's, even if there were obvious flaws.

Given how technology evolves, it wouldn't surprise us if, by 2025, AI models with video synthesis capabilities can reproduce the self-mocking video Smith created himself.
