Novo Nordisk is investing €2.1 billion in its French drug manufacturing unit, supporting Macron’s push to “reindustrialize” France. The investment follows a similar move by Pfizer in May.
The investments support sales of Ozempic and Wegovy, making Novo Nordisk the most reputable company in Europe. These investments are part of President Macron’s drive to revive the industry in France. The new plant is expected to be completed in 2028 and will create 500 new jobs.

Sales of Ozempic and Wegovy have made Novo Nordisk one of the most valuable companies in Europe. Through the investment, the company is doubling the size of its manufacturing facility and creating 500 new jobs by 2028. This initiative is part of an effort to address structural drug shortages caused by the Covid.
By 2023, Novo Nordisk has invested 10 billion euros worldwide, including the plant . Its drugs, Ozempic and Wegovy, treat diabetes and obesity. Although Ozempic is not approved for weight loss, it has become popular for its slimming properties.
Wegovy is approved for the treatment of obesity in the US and other countries. Wegovy is planned to apply for certification in France in 2024
