Valve: Selling refurbished Steam Decks with a 20% discount

Valve has announced that it is now offering certified refurbished Steam Decks. Refurbished units can be purchased for around 20% off new prices, giving you the chance to buy them for less than the price of the Steam Summer Sale. The consoles come with the same one-year warranty as new models. Additionally, Valve announced that GameStop is now selling refurbished Steam Decks at select stores, though its modelsare “refurbished at GameStop’s facility and will come with its own warranty.”

Valve has all three versions of the Steam Deck in stock. The 64GB model costs $319, the 256GB version is priced at $419, and the 512GB version is priced at $519. In contrast, the same systems in retail condition are sold new for $399, $529, and $649, respectively.

Valve says it carefully tests each unit before certifying it for sale. “Each device undergoes a full factory reset, software update, and extensive testing that includes over 100 tests at one of Valve’s facilities,” the company wrote. “Tests include all controller inputs, audio, display , and internals. Battery health is also assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity.

Steam Decks

The company warns that refurbished units may have minor cosmetic imperfections, but promises a reliable, high-quality gaming experience at a reduced cost. In addition to offering the same warranty as new consoles, refurbished models include a refurbished power supply, carrying case, and a quick start guide. Valve says that refurbished Steam Deck inventory is limited and may change over time. The company recommends checking its refurbished inventory regularly to confirm availability.

Meanwhile, GameStop's upgraded Steam Decks are available starting today. They're being sold at select retailers with a discount of "up to 20% off new model prices" and are available exclusively to customers with a GameStop Pro subscription, which costs $25 per year.
