Since launching Google’s Bard chatbot AI feature in March, it’s been touted as an “experiment” accessible to the general public. Now, Google is providing the first official update on the project with a comprehensive report detailing all the changes and improvements made since its inception. This first update is quite small, at least compared to the many, many changes and improvements Microsoft has made to its own Bing Chat since it was released in February. Sundar Pichai had hinted at the upcoming change a few days ago – Bard will now use the larger PaLM model instead of the LaMDA language model. According to the official update page, “better features for math and logic” are being introduced with this update – that’s probably due to the switch from LaMDA to PalM!
Bard’s latest update includes the addition of “suggested search topics” when a user clicks “Google it.” This way, users can delve deeper into a variety of interests with related topics. We look forward to seeing more updates and upgrades to this page in the coming weeks and months!
