WhatsApp and Meta are ushering in a new era in data security , ensuring that their users' information is safe

Both services are moving data to global entities and away from Irish companies, while still being regulated by Irish authorities. The change was originally announced for 2020 due to Britain's separation from the EU. However, it is now fully prepared and ready for use.
Both WhatsApp and Meta stressed that the adjustments will not affect how UK users’ information is handled, their privacy choices, or how their products work. British citizens will continue to be protected by national data protection regulations , and references to European Union regulations will now be replaced by British ones
Both assured that there will be no adjustments to the data shared between WhatsApp and Meta. This is a highly controversial issue of late.

In early 2021, WhatsApp's new update shocked users , who feared that Facebook had gained access to their private conversations and other confidential information. Despite WhatsApp's insistence that the update would have no impact on message privacy, users became increasingly concerned and began to close their accounts. The changes caused great concern among those who decided to move away from the platform.
Although the entities responsible for its retention will change under the new regulations, this data will still remain separate. As a result of this change, the Irish entities – Meta Platforms Ireland and WhatsApp Ireland – will be transferred to their respective global entities located in the United States.
Companies must be accountable for protecting information and complying with the UK's GDPR laws. The new changes will come into effect on April 25th.

Starting this week, users will be notified of this change via email notifications, from within WhatsApp itself, and via notifications directly on their timeline. These notifications will guide users through a quick overview of what is changing and what is staying the same.
