After the British government banned the use of Hikvision camera systems on “sensitive” sites, the Chinese surveillance company denied any suspicion that it could pose a threat to the United Kingdom's national security.

On Thursday, it was announced that restrictions would be imposed to stop the installation of technology produced by companies subject to China's National Intelligence Law, which requires Chinese citizens and organizations to assist the country's intelligence and security services.
On Friday, Hikvision said to CNN Business that the statements made regarding them being a threat to national security are false.
After the UK government announced it would ban Huawei products from its network , the company said it hoped to speak to officials “urgently” to understand the decision. The company added that it had previously spoken to the UK government to clear up any misunderstandings about its business.

«Hikvision is an equipment manufacturer that does not have visibility into end users' video data», said the company based in Hangzhou. «Hikvision cannot access end users' video data and cannot transmit data from end users to third parties. We do not manage end users' databases, nor do we sell cloud storage space in the United Kingdom.»
On Thursday, the Minister of the Cabinet Oliver Dowden told the British Parliament that after a security review, government agencies were ordered to stop using equipment manufactured by companies subject to the national intelligence law.

UK lawmakers months ago called for a ban on Hikvision and Dahua technology after it was revealed that the companies were involved in human rights abuses against Uyghurs in Xinjiang.
The United States in 2019 placed Hikvision and other Chinese companies on a trade blacklist, prohibiting them from importing American technology for similar claims.
